Huge congratulations to our Project Manager Arturs Legzdins who has won the Stone Federation’s first industry Rising Star Award. He shares a podium with Peter Harrison who has been justly rewarded with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Stone Federation of Great Britain and to whom we extend our warmest congratulations.
We are delighted that the opportunity to nominate Arturs for formal industry recognition has presented itself. He is without doubt a rising star within both our business and the wider industry. He will undoubtedly continue to contribute to the built environment, and in particular the stone sector for many years to come.
His passion for stone and the restoration & conservation of heritage buildings goes far beyond just his day job and he will regularly spend his weekends photographing our projects and the wider built environment having discovered an interest in architectural photography during his degree course.
Following his academic and vocational training in Latvia, Arturs moved to the UK to expand his practical conservation knowledge skill set and learn about other aspects and restorative techniques. He chose the UK because of its marvellously rich building heritage and the opportunities available to progress. His first project in London was façade conservation of 10 Trinity Square, the former headquarters of the Port of London Authority where he undertook masonry cleaning and repairs as part of the team there.
Arturs was introduced to the Restore London team by one of our Contracts Managers who had spotted Arturs talent & passion for restoration and masonry as well as his professional management style on the Ampersand regeneration Project in Oxford Street and we are glad to say he joined Restore London in 2015 as a labour only sub-contractor & working Foreman.
2016 Herbal House – Arturs was promoted to our full time works and quality control Manager on this refurbishment project in the heart of London. Works consisted of extensive brick and stone cleaning, terrazzo, ceramic tile, brick, and concrete repairs.
2017 Drapers Hall Phase 1 – Arturs had risen to Site Manager for the cleaning and restoration work of this internal courtyard stonework, this project was also nominated for the natural stone awards 2020.
In 2018 Arturs was promoted to Project Manager due to his personal and project performance. His role involved overseeing high profile conservation works where he is responsible for all aspects of each project from the planning stages through to completion.
Arturs’ rapid rise from craftsman to Project Manager is a great success story. He is a consummate professional and always gives his full commitment to his clients, his projects, and his team. The Restore London leadership team, his colleagues, clients and suppliers who have had the privilege of working with Arturs are immensely proud of his achievements and look forward to celebrating with him!
