Irene House

This project involved the conversion of a former Government Tax Office, constructed in the 1940s, to 77 residential units. Restore London were engaged as façade specialists to clean, survey, renew & repair existing brick & stonework structures as well as forming a new entrance and paved areas. Doff cleaning was used with sporadic JOS cleaning to heavily carbon-stained areas.

Extensive photographic condition surveys of every inch of each elevation were then undertaken and reviewed before Client approval of remedial works. Existing bands of mismatching coloured stone were replaced with Portuguese Moleanos to match the Portland framework. The Restore team also cut out & renewed all stone & brickwork pointing to both the front and church-side elevations & ensured matching colour repairs, including structural crack stitching, as required. The rear facades’ existing bricks were no longer available, meaning extensive sourcing to find an approved match before carrying out repairs, repointing and strengthening where required.
