Findlater’s Corner

Restore London were appointed to carry out detailed surveys, samples & restoration works at Findlater’s Corner, London Bridge Island. The building was originally used as the Express Dairy Tea Rooms & made use of the railway network to bring fresh dairy supply to the Capital.

Further to years of neglect, the project formed part of a wider scheme to bring back to life 1000 derelict railway arches by 2030. Following our surveys, our team were tasked with the restoration of the original Victorian faience as well as mosaic repair & conservation works to the original glass & gilt mosaic produced by celebrated mosaicist Jesse Rust, produced circa 1905. Several innovative conservation options were presented by the Restore team to the client to ensure the most sympathetic repair & best aesthetic result within budget. The quality & extent of this restoration project can be fully appreciated when reviewing the before & after images taken.
