Restore London’s recently completed project is the long-anticipated refurbishment of London Zoo’s Grade II* listed Snowdon Aviary. Working with Main Contractors CBRE, Ridge Engineers and Purcell Architects, Restore London were instrumental in restoring Cedric Price’s famous enclosure to welcome a troop of Eastern black and white colobus monkeys to their new home at Monkey Valley.
The structure underwent a multi-million-pound refurbishment with Restore London works including surveying & testing, cleaning and repairs to the heritage concrete along with works to the staircases, retaining walls, base plates, & expansion joints. The original life span of the enclosure had well exceeded it’s original 30-year intention & the structure was placed on Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Register. The Restore team are therefore delighted to be involved in saving yet another piece of history for future generations to enjoy.
The new exhibit will be opening to the public from Monday 15th August 2022.
